Gregory E. Barrett

Gregory E. Barrett

Rockford, Illinois

Mr. Barrett has been engaged in the trial of lawsuits for over 40 years.  For the first ten years of his practice he tried both criminal and civil cases.  His practice of criminal law included jury trials in cases involving, among other things, murder, armed robbery, burglary, and sex crimes.  Since that time he has limited his practice to civil cases with particular emphasis on medical negligence claims and claims involving catastrophic injuries and wrongful death in a broader liability context such as commercial motor vehicle accidents and premises liability cases.

He has an extensive background of trial experience including having litigated international terrorism cases against foreign state sponsors of terrorist acts in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, Washington, D.C.  He was the first attorney in the history of Winnebago County to obtain a jury verdict in excess of a million dollars in a medical malpractice case.

He has had record setting jury verdicts on behalf of his clients for damages awards for such things as pain and suffering and loss of society.  He is an invited speaker at continuing legal education events on subjects involving the trial of civil actions for damages.  He has authored articles and continuing legal education materials on the subject of the trial of civil cases and civil liability for damages.

He has been recognized as a leading lawyer in Illinois and by Who’s Who in American Law.   For clients who are looking for superior expertise and experience in medical negligence matters or matters involving liability for serious and catastrophic injuries or fatal accidents, Mr. Barrett’s background, education, results and experience are at the pinnacle of the legal profession.
